Hooton Engineering awarded
ISO 1090 for structural steel

Hooton Engineering were delighted to be the first Company ever given the award with zero recomendations for improvement by ISOQAR. That’s what our customers have driven us to achieve.

When we started the journey towards this accreditation back in July 2014 we were told to expect that there would be changes needed to reach the levels required, as that was normal for all applicants. We were very pleased to hear that we had been awarded this standard, and that we were already working to the required levels.  It proves that our staff training is paying off as standards are very high, and that's what our customers have come to expect.

Hooton Engineering is a privately owned UK & international engineering company, offering bespoke engineering solutions. The company has vast experience of installation in plant not only our own, but as mainline installation engineers for several overseas manufacturers, as well as carrying out factory maintenance for a number of blue chip companies.

Latest News

Following the recent acquisition of a local machining company Hooton Engineering have been sourced as a main supplier of sealing jaws for a Grimsby packaging firm.

Pete Chapman the previous Managing Director of Lindsey Engineering said "We have 30 years experience of making sealing jaws for many companies in Gainsborough including AMP Rose and Technosys PES Ltd, I am delighted to be able to offer this service outside of our local area. It is good to work with international companies developing bespoke products with them"

Hooton Engineering Ltd bought Lindsey Engineering in 2014 and has now fully integrated the companies on their purpose built site on Corringham Road Industrial Estate.

ISO and UKAS certification

Hooton Engineering are pleased to announce that once again they have been re-certified for BS9001 and BS EN 1090. As previously no recommendations were received and the companies procedures have been classed as excellent and fit for the future developments within the ISO certifications.

Richard Marshall MD stated – "It is always good to meet with outside agencies who have a depth of knowledge within the industry. The two auditors were very complementary regarding our systems of work and indicated Hooton Engineering would be able to be re-classified as execution class 3 within a very short space of time – if required

Presently Hooton is certified to produce steel structures in mild and stainless steel within execution classes 1 and 2 which is for all gantries and stairs.

Michael Dawson – Lead auditor said that the "CE marking of steel structures has been a legal requirement now for 4 years and it is an offence to erect none CE marked structures within the EU”

Bob Davidson is delighted to announce that Hooton Engineering Ltd have received another order for a pharmaceutical end user.

“Whilst we are not dealing directly with the Pharmaceutical customers our services have become more recognised as suppliers of excellence” – said Bob Davidson who is now a Director owner of Hooton Engineering Ltd.  Bob has been part of the workforce team at Hooton Engineering Ltd for 42 years, prior to becoming a director owner.

The investments made in our staff and equipment over the last few years, have proved positively and our quality of workmanship is now being recognised throughout the UK.

Hooton Engineering have been working with Stainless Steel for 50 years, but only recently working to 0.5RA specification. The trick is to look after the material during fabrication and because of that the finish is to a higher standard.

Since our modernisation programme started in 2011 we are now reaching levels so that 40% of production meets this higher pharmaceutical standard.

Dean Leek, Project Engineer at Depot Rail Limited, handled the design and installation of a sand feeding system for a brand new depot on Dublin’s tram network said...

“Working with Hooton Engineering has been a great experience and everything from first contact with Simon to delivery of the silo has been handled professionally and effectively.

Last year we had a silo made in France that required us to carry out additional work after delivery but having this silo made by Hooton Engineering in Gainsborough has produced a quality product on schedule and to specification.

Our customer is delighted with the installation and there should be another silo for the same customer to be delivered during 2017”.

Hooton Engineering is delighted to announce that they have been accepted as a preferred contractor by Tarmac (a CRH Company) for design, fabrication, and installation of steel products for general use, but specifically CE Marked Steel in accordance with BS EN 1090 Exc 2.

Simon Barrett Director of Hooton Engineering Ltd said “ We are pleased that Tarmac Group have acknowledged the investment that has taken place with Hooton Engineering Ltd and have placed us on their exclusive preferred supplier list”
